Sr. Tooling Engineer

Purpose of the Position

Enables new technology development and improvement. Serves as a technical expert in field. Develops, modifies and designs materials and processes using advanced and complex methodologies. Uses advanced and robust methods to solve complex problems to advance new business development or troubleshoot existing engineering/manufacturing problems. Develops and validates reliable technical tools to anticipate new technology development and technical challenges in existing and new business.

Day to Day Responsibilities

1.Use statistical methods and engineering tools for product and process analysis. Implement effective performance monitoring and tracking system.

2.Provides day-to-day problem solving support to production, development and operations.

3.Trouble shoots tooling related material, process and equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action.

4.Use PEx tools to continuously improve the process to achieve manufacture performance excellence. Develop and implement projects to support cost reduction, OEE and other manufacture objectives.

5.Trains new tooling operation and processes.

6.Assures safety of operators and equipment and Complies with safety and environmental regulations.

7.Provide tooling and plastics design and manufacturing expertise to development team include tooling and molding feasibility analysis, post -molding and finishing scheme, design fro manufacturing ( part level) analysis.

8.Provide tooling design concept. Responsible for tooling design review, drawing approval and kick-off.

9.Management of overall manufacturing operations for tooling parts, e.g. RFQ assistance, tooling specification, mold test report, ISR( Initial Samples review), corrective actions, process setup, delivery to support pilot buildings...etc.

10.Interface with division team, plant and suppliers to define and manage manufacturing strategies for tooling.

11.Establish tooling schedule that can meet the project timeline, monitor the process to ensure the quality and progress.

12.Be responsible for tool quality assurance, conduct tooling buy-off and transfer and pre-qualification as required procedure/process.

13.Lead and execute cost saving projects through introduction of new materials, processes and creative design.

3. Defines skill sets and resources needed to accomplish objectives.

4. Defines and monitors the budget.

5. Identifies risks and develops mitigation plans.

6. Communicates results, progress to plan, and any key issues to S&T leaders, business unit leadership, and team members.

7. May use engineering and manufacturing feedback to ensure a scalable manufacturing process.

Education & Experience 

1.Bachelor Degree or above of Manufacturing Engineering / Mechanical Engineering

2.At least 10 years relevant experience in plastic and tooling fabrication, injection molding and product design

Required Skills 

1.Good CAD, SOLIDWORKS design skills

2.Thorough understanding product design, raw material, and mold related

3.Excellent tool and part debug skill

4.On-site tooling qualification and operations management skills

5.Good English communication skills (verbal and written)
